Oh boy, Happy Day Before Thanksgiving everybody! I'm scurrying around, cooking, cleaning and tapping into my inner domestic goddessness today trying to get everything ready for the big feast tomorrow. I had nearly lamented that I wouldn't have time to get this post up for you in all the melee. But then I had a thought that filled me with worry for all of you faithful readers out there and I knew I had to get the word out. What's the one part of any Thanksgiving meal that for those at the table makes the whole hedonistic eating experience complete? The icing on the cake, the piece de resistance...the BUNS! As the chef and engineer of culinary extravagance, this holiday season, I know that you're all far more concerned with the main course - the turkey. Then there's the stuffing, the yams, the green bean casserole...so much to think about that this one important piece could be overlooked, or worse, treated as an afterthought. Well, don't worry, I got your back with this post (literally ;). This week's pairing is here to ensure that you don't forget the "Buns" this Thanksgiving. Author Alice Clayton's culinary romance promises hot, delicious fun and it revolves around a secret recipe for the Bryant Mountain House's "yummy, gooey, can't-get-enough-of Hot Cross buns." I stalked Clayton's book line up and they all look incredible. My ereader is at the ready to make me a fan and my glass is waiting to be filled with Cline Chardonnay so that this holiday dinner and reading experience are complete. Be sure to find time to take a break and join me. Happy Wine Wednesday everyone, I wish you all a joyous Thanksgiving and, as always, happy reading! ![]() The third in the hilarious yet sizzling hot Hudson Valley series from New York Time and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton. Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns…. Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open. It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.
