I hunted around and found thirteen (spooky number) beautifully romantic and spooky quotes from classic writings to put up on the blog--just in time for Halloween! Some are super romantic, some are creepy and some are just plain lovely. Enjoy and feel free to share them with friends.
Picture
"By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." - William Shakespeare, Macbeth
Picture
"Beware, for I am fearless, and therefore powerful." - Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
Picture
"There was a contagion in the very air that blew from that haunted region; it breathed forth an atmosphere of dreams and fancies infecting all the land." - Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Picture
"There are darknesses in life and their are lights,
And you are one of the lights, the light of all lights." - Bram Stoker, Dracula
Picture
"If I am the phantom, it is because man's hatred of me has made me so. If I am to be saved it is because your love redeems me." - Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera
Picture
"We loved with a love that was more than love." - Edgar Allen Poe, Annabel Lee
*Had to throw in some Poe :)

Picture
"The opera ghost really existed. He was not, as long believed, a creature of the imagination of the artists, the superstition of the managers, or the absurd impressionable brains of the young ladies of the ballet, their mothers, the box-keepers, the cloak-room attendants, or the concierge. No, he existed in flesh and blood, though he assumed all the outward characteristics of a real phantom, that is to say, a shade." - Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera
Picture
"I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other." - Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
Picture
"In each of us, two natures are at war--the good and the evil." - Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde
Picture
"For, what other dungeon is as dark as one's own heart! What jailor so inexorable as one's self!" - Nathaniel Hawthorne, House of Seven Gables
Picture
"If ever a look meant death--if looks could kill--we saw it in that moment." -Bram Stoker, Dracula
(*This is where the "if looks could kill" phrase comes from ;)
Picture
"These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like
fire and powder
Which, as they kiss, consume." - William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
Picture
"It was a day, as I have said, a fine autumnal day; the sky was clear and serene, and nature wore that rich and golden livery which we always associate with the idea of abundance. The forests had put on their sober brown and yellows, while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet." - Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

*Not a very spooky passage, but a beautiful description of an autumnal scene before things get creepy in this classic favorite.

Happy Halloween!

A laugh till it hurts paranormal comedy!
How does a girl become a witch? By accident, of course!
Leigh Epstein is a grief stricken and lonely elementary school teacher that is devastated by the brutal and unexpected death of her true love at the hands of a careless writer. She overcomes her grief by taking matters into her own hands and takes up a little romance writing to resurrect her vampire-werewolf book-boyfriend. Leigh gets more than she bargained for when she discovers that every steamy erotic scene she creates is magically reenacted by her family, friends and coworkers.

In her hilarious first diary, Leigh unwittingly sets her parents up for a weekend dinner party that they will never forget. She has two weeks to find out what her new found magic is capable of. Can she prevent a wild erotic encounter that could devastate her sweet parent’s marriage? What and who else will get caught up in her magic spells?

Read a story so witchingly fun that you won't be able to put it down, and you will be eagerly awaiting the rest of the Literal Leigh Romance Diaries!

This paranormal romantic suspense contains witches, witchcraft, magic, adult language and situations, and laugh-out-loud hilarity. Accidental Leigh is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

From My Review:

Quick, Fun, Sexy-Witchy Read!

Oh my gosh, what a fun story. I've become a fan of these paranormal romance comedies lately and James's book definitely delivers on the laughs, not to mention some super steam. The whole adventure begins when Leigh suffers an extreme book hangover when her favorite author up and kills her favorite book boyfriend - I know right? THE HORROR! - She decides to take matters into her own hands and write a romance novel of her own, only her magic gets a teensy bit out of control and sets off a chain of events that will have you laughing out loud. This short book is part of a series and ends on a cliff hanger. Would recommend to anyone who loves steamy, comedy paranormal romance.

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Horribly Sunny Mystery, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant.

NOBODY MESSES WITH HIS LIBRARIAN. . .
Who killed Michael Vanderhorst’s maker? It’s a darn good question. But when the trail brings Michael to hellishly sunny Phoenix, Arizona, his biggest problem soon becomes a cute little librarian he can’t seem to stay away from. He’s never met a bigger danger magnet! Even her book cart has it out for her. And is that the drug cartel following her around, too? “Dear God, woman! What have you gotten yourself into?”

Things go from bad to worse when local vampires won’t play nice.

Can this four-hundred-year-old vampire keep his librarian safe and himself out of hot water? Can he bring his maker’s killer to justice? Yesterday, he would’ve said yes. But yesterday, he didn’t have a strange connection with a librarian. Yesterday, people weren’t trying to kill her.

Romance, Reads & Wine - Eidolon & Phantom

10/7/2020

Hello Wine and Romance Novel Lovers, and happy Wednesday! Today, I have a beautiful pairing for you, especially if you are in the mood for a haunting, fantasy romance kind of experience. Grace Draven's Eidolon and Phantom Chardonnay are perfect together. Eidolon is the second book in Draven's dark romantasy Wraith Kings series, which I highly recommend. It extends Brishen and Ildiko's story so you should definitely read Radiance (Book 1) first. I just heard that the third book, Ippos King, is out now also so you may as well grab the whole series. Once you have your books in hand, settle in with a glass of Phantom Chard and enter a whole new world of fantasy, complete with plenty of danger, intrigue, and romance. Thrilling!

**Sequel to RADIANCE and Book #2 in the Wraith Kings series**

In a bid for more power, the Shadow Queen of Haradis unleashes a malignant force into the world. Her son Brishen, younger prince of the Kai royal house, suddenly finds himself ruler of a kingdom blighted by a diseased darkness. His human wife Ildiko must decide if she will give up the man she loves in order to save his throne.

Three kingdoms on the verge of war must unite to save each other, and a one-eyed, reluctant king will raise an army of the dead to challenge an army of the damned.

A tale of alliance and sacrifice.

From my review:

I'm in love with this series! Brishen and Ildiko... what can I say, I fell in love with both of them in book 1 of this series and I still can't get over their enduring, unique story. Their romance is beautiful, as is Draven's storytelling. I really appreciate how their relationship developed without any of the usual tropes popping up. It really makes this fantasy romance feel like a fairy tale for adults and I love that. I'm excited to read Anhuset and Serovek's book, The Ippos King, next. Their relationship has been smoldering in the background of this series and I can't wait to see what Draven does with them.
