Happy Wine Wednesday everyone! I hope you are all having a fabulous week. This week's wine / book pairing is brought to you by Author Clara Winter's paranormal romance, The King of Kings from her Immortal Kindred series and, one of my favorites, Apothic White. These two together make for a truly enjoyable reading experience!

Love has no limits…

Alexandre has retreated from the world. He has no one to love, nowhere to call home. While licking his wounds in the middle of nowhere, Alexandre is approached by Irish lass, Bria. She has a proposal for him; to follow her to Ireland and fight demons.

Alexandre finds this amusing, but intriguing. More than anything, he is curious to see the individual who sent Bria, someone from his ancient past.

In Ireland, Alexandre confronts a dilemma greater than fighting demons. He must face down fiends of all kinds, deciding once and for all who he really is. Sparks fly between Bria and Alexandre, adding to the already complicated situation. Can a bad boy vampire really change?

The King of Kings is set in southern Ireland with a glimpse back to Ancient Egypt.

From my review:

Demons, Immortals and Vampires… oh my!

Very much enjoyed this book. I jumped into this series on book three without having read the first two books, but had no trouble at all following the story line. The mix of mythologies and ancient mysteries made for a very intriguing story world. I flew through the pages and look forward to reading the rest of the Immortal Kindred stories.

Upon A Moonswept Tide…
Trapped in time…Ronan Garring is a man of action; a ship captain who has sailed the seas from Europe to the Caribbean…in the seventeenth century. When he is tricked by a sea nymph, he is sent to a deserted island in Poseidon’s realm to serve the gods for all time. On a mission to modern day Miami, he finds his earth home crawling with underworld evil and is waylaid by an enchanting human woman who seems to stall his attempts at completing his quest at every turn. He can’t be sure if she is an entirely innocent wrecking ball or the agent of a more sinister force. Against all his good intentions, he finds himself continually, albeit pleasantly, entangled with her both in this world and beyond.
Searching…for a friend whose gone missing, Cindy Pierce left the Rocky Mountains for the beaches of Miami to try to make sense of, what looks to be, a hopeless case. As the trail grows cold, she stumbles into an intriguing dark stranger and is literally knocked flat. Fierce and intense as he is, towering over her and exuding old world masculinity, she can’t help her body’s immediate response to him. When she finds herself being chased across the southern tip of Miami and into the Florida Keys by the handsome foreigner however, she’s convinced he’s not only psychotic but intent on doing her harm. Once she finds herself in his arms again though, her attraction to him can’t be denied and neither can the fact that he may be the only one who can save her from the dark forces at work on the beach.
Join the race to find the kings in Amanda V. Shane’s new Tides of Atlantis series and help them to discover their soul mates, the women who will win their lost hearts and help them fulfill their destiny!

"Compulsively readable, sexy, and fun!"

AUDREY
I moved to a small town on the island of Maui, ready to live out my days on my own and far away from the monster I left back in Chicago.

It was the perfect reset until I needed something more. Someone more.

When I met Jake, the hottest guy in board shorts this side of the island, I started living again. He's teaching me how to surf, making my toes curl from pleasure, and is the one person I want to let into my world, with one condition...

He can never know my real name.

No one can.

Because if I'm found, I'll have to give up the life I'm building with Jake.

JAKE
Where did this girl come from?

My life was on a straight trajectory—waking up at dawn, getting my brother off to school, heading to the shop, and watching surfers come and go—until a beautiful woman named Audrey Logan moved to town. She's guarded and mysterious, but I'm drawn to her in a way I can't resist.

I'm determined to break down her walls one surfing lesson at a time, in hopes that she'll stay in Maui and let me love her, come what may.

What to expect from this standalone novella: hot surfer dudes, bonfire parties, kissing under the stars, romps on the beach, lovey-dovey stuff, mysterious backstories, "I will protect you!" hero vibes, suspense, kick ass women, and of course a happily ever after.

*** From my review:

Perfect Summer book! I really enjoyed this quick, summer read. Set in beautiful Hawaii, it had all the best beach elements—sun, sand and a hot surfer guy to fall in love with. It’s very well written, has fantastic characters, no slow spots. I finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down. I loved all the surfer quotes the author put in as well. Well done, Ms. Malouff!

Would recommend to anyone looking for a great little romance to throw in their beach or pool bag.

Lindsay loves reading and writing romances. She's falling for her handsome writing instructor, Ryan, but a past hurt is holding her back.

Ryan is a successful author, older and more experienced. He lives alone in a beautiful home that's way too big for one person. The only thing missing in his life is love. He needs to break through to Lindsay, but a secret from his past could hurt her again.

 From my review:
~I loved this story! It was the perfect afternoon read. I opened it up to clear my head a little bit and couldn’t stop reading until I was done. I was completely absorbed with hoping that Lindsay and Ryan would forget about all the obstacles they kept putting in their own way and finally come together. The book plays on a favorite trope—student falling in love with the teacher and is a quick read but the characters managed to have a satisfying amount of depth in such a short time and I felt like I was right in the story with them. They are both just lovely! I see that this author has another novella out and I’ve already added it to my tbr.

Sometimes novellas like this one can be just the right length when you have a couple of spare hours all to yourself. What romance novellas do you recommend?

Fantastic Story

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and can't wait to read more. I fell in love with Kay and Xieran, two characters who couldn't have complimented each other more. The plot was fast-paced and interesting, drawing on Greek myths and the legend of Atlantis in a very compelling way. Highly recommended.

Desires and Passion are brewing in the Tides - as unexpected as a hurricane and as old as an ancient land.

“That’s the funny thing about will…sometimes your own bumps up against that of another’s.”  ~Xieran Amphere, Crystal Tide

Devastated by the loss of both parents and running scared after a break-in at her home, Kay Laurens jumps on the first plane out of Denver heading south to Miami. There she meets up with, of all people, a love psychic for answers. On the tip of the Bermuda Triangle, she is swept up into the dark world of an ancient cult and sent on the ride of her life. Then her incense induced visions come to life in the form of an inter-world travelling, suspicious and sinfully hot immortal agent for Mt. Olympus.

Xieran has no memory of who he was before being stolen by Hermes. The Greek god uses him to enter Earth’s sphere under the guise of an affluent art dealer in search of an elusive artifact which, if he can find, will win him his freedom. When his latest mission is brought up short by a female grad student breaking into his complex travel system, he can’t help but be suspicious. It makes no difference that he finds her more and more irresistible with each encounter. With demon outbreaks, nefarious characters working in the Underworld and a power struggle of epic proportions going on, no one can be trusted.

As they are thrown into the Tides together, Kay and Xieran set out on a whirlwind adventure, racing through the streets of Rome, Miami and even Western Australia to chase down the answers that will win them their freedom from the overbearing gods. Will they come to terms with destiny and conquer the evil taking over the Tides, or will they succumb to the passion growing between them?
